Kicking off NYFW this season was Timo Weiland showcasing their Mens SS15 collection at the High Line Hotel. The collection had a certain ease about it, all the while staying very clean and put together. Sweatshorts paired with crewneck sweaters layered overtop of button down shirts were unexpected, but proof that you can actually find the balance between style and comfort. The jackets and coats were all well tailored but also offered lots of pockets for functionality. The palette was predominately white and navy, with touches of green and lavender thrown into the mix. The pieces had a very westcoast feel to them, comprised mostly of cotton jersey and linen which made it very lightweight and easy to wear.
Accenting the collection were a slick array of accessories. Dr. Martens provided the footwear, from leather sandals to my favourite, the white lace up boots. The other stand out for me was the eyewear by Cutler and Gross, the retro rounded frame with pointed corners were seen in hues sage and lavender.
The collection comes across as a hybrid of urban, punk and prep which will undoubtably do well for them come spring. The Timo Weiland man is not afraid of fashion or being bold, as seen in the playful use of stripes in all directions and thicknesses.
Once again the team at Timo Weiland has proven you can have a ton of great ideas, and with careful editing, you can create a cohesive collection that everyone will be coveting.
