Ah New York, the city of fashion.  The last couple of days have been pure magic in NYC.   There’s never a dull moment when you’re talking the Big Apple.  In the city that never sleeps, we managed to stop for a minute and visit the showroom of Basler Fashion, a Berlin-based contemporary clothing line known for their colourful prints, fabulous fabrics and chic styles. Basler’s Creative Director Brian Rennie took a moment out of his busy schedule to talk with The Social Life.

Brian, born in Scotland, has been playing the fashion game for over 20 years.  Before becoming the Creative Director of Basler, Brian was the Head Designer at Escada.  Since then he has transferred to Basler Fashion bringing with him his estechic to create  distinguished, stylised and feminine collections.  Brian boasts a client list including Kim Basinger, Jennifer Lopez and the late Princess Diana.  These are Brian’s People, Places and Things.

“My husband Ferdinand, who is a singer and producer.  He keeps me grounded and takes care of everything for me so that I can concentrate on what I love to do- FASHION!”

“Scotland!  It is where I was born.  I have a house there on the West Coast near Dunoon, situated in the middle of nowhere amongst the beautiful landscape.  It is the place where I can relax and recharge my batteries.  I can spend house looking our over Loch Striven to the Isle of Bute, with Arran in the distance. The scenery is simply spectacular.

My dogs Dolce and Gabanna are Weimaraners and Charlie is a Dalmatian.  Nothing beats the welcome I get from them when I walk in the door.  They help me relax after a day in the office.

Stay tuned for a peak inside the Basler Showroom in New York City in our next post!
