Rolando Santana kept it clean and classic with his Fall/Winter 14 collection, something that he does incredibly well. The colour palette was primarily black, white and grey with a light touch of muted lilac in the mix. The white satin top with beaded black branch detail was very chic, it looked like the shadows of a tree across the snow covered ground. Beading wasn’t the only sparkle in the collection, black pants dripping with an all over sequin added a touch of rock & roll. A white sheath dress with a black criss cross motif was shown with geometric leather insets on the sides, and celebrated the female form. Rolando really hit his stride as the cocktail dresses came down, my favourite being a strapless black dress with plunging neckline and feather detailing at the empire waist. Winter white satin was perfectly tailored into separates for one look, the top being covered with clusters of crystals that looked like snow flakes.
What makes Rolando Santana such a sought after designer, is that he doesn’t just design for one woman, he designs for every woman.
