August Getty was this year’s new kid on the block, and whilst pretty much unheard of on the fashion circuit prior to Fashion Week, he still managed to pack his show at Lincoln square with many notable faces.
For Getty’s first showing he really hit it out of the box. The collection was bold, dramatic and yet still very wearable. The
collection played beautifully with the balance of structure and line. We saw asymmetric, structured bodices paired with soft, floating skirts and strong, dynamic, metallic patterns used on elegant flowing gowns. There was a distinctly 80’s feel that came out in the collection, epitomized by the fantastic suiting and exaggerated proportions and structure in many of the pieces
One of my favourite pieces was the fantastic asymmetric black mini dress with amazing shoulder detail. The oversized shoulder padding was both striking and fun and really encapsulated the feel of this collection.
This show was a fantastic first showing from Getty and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
