The Room at Hudson’s Bay hosted an intimate evening with Proenza Schouler showcasing their SS16 collection fresh off the runway.

On friday night The Hudson’s Bay hosted an exclusive evening with Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, “the boys” (as the fashion flock call them) behind Proenza Schouler. Their visit comes only a couple weeks after they showed their impressive SS16 collection during NYFW. The collection was inspired by Lazaro Hernandez’s latin roots, seen in the ruffle detailing along hems, and the way the fabric peeled away form the body. The collection was very romantic and ethereal, a departure from some of the oversized silhouettes and armour like leathers that have become a Proenza Schouler staple.
“No spectacle. No fireworks. We just wanted to show the power of craft and clothes-making,” Proenza Schouler co-designer Lazaro Hernandez told WWD
The designers seemed quite at ease mingling with the guests during the reception. I spoke briefly with “the boys” praising their new collection which we were fortunate enough to be in the presence of. I snapped a photo with them and Lazaro noticed my PS1 bag I was holding, from the finale look of their Pre-Fall 2009 collection. He looked at me and said “That takes me back to the collection that launched the PS1”, and they say the rest, is history.
