There has been a huge shake up on the New York Fashion Week calendar, with Gareth Pugh being added to the line up. The London based designer is moving his Paris show to New York this season, and is set to show on September 4th.
I have always had the upmost respect and admiration for Gareth and his designs. I remember when I was filling out my application for the fashion school I went to [Blanche Macdonald], and we had to list 3 designers that inspire us, Gareth Pugh was the first name on my list along with Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan. There is just something so remarkable about how directional his point of view is, and that no matter what, he stays true to himself and his designs.
For his NYFW showing there have not been many details released as of yet, except that it will not be a traditional show. In lieu of a runway show, Gareth will have a video component and live dancers. If you are unfamiliar with Gareth Pugh’s video’s, I have embedded a couple of my favourites down below.

“There’s a point at which old archetypes need to change. Fashion is very stuck in its ways, and I wanted to present something that would make people think, and maybe move the needle a bit.” – Gareth Pugh to the New York Times
To say that this will be one of the most incredible and thought provoking “shows” this season may seem bold, but knowing his body of work, there is no doubt in my mind that we will all be dancing along in awe.
