The Deighton Cup is one of the most stylish events Vancouverites have to look forward to every year. The growth of the event over the last few years has been impressive, this year boasting over 1500 attendees. Produced by The Social Concierge, or as I call them “A League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, they have found a formula that allows them to consistently surpass expectations. Modelled after The Royal Ascot, Deighton gives us the oppurtunity to show off our sartorial best whilst taking in the sites of The Hastings Race Coarse.
One of the elements of Deighton Cup is The Cocktail Jockey, a mixology competition where Vancouver’s top bartenders vie for the chance of taking home the top honours, and most importantly bragging rights.
2nd Runner Up
What goes better with a cocktail but some delicious bites, that’s where Cocktails & Canapes stepped in delivering tasty lobster rolls inside fresh croissants. The picnic tables were filled with well dressed attendees, and unlike highschool, every table was the cool kids table.
Like last year, Miles End Motors created “The Field of Dreams”, a grassy knoll beside the main area of Deighton Cup, filled with beautiful tablescapes, private bars, a DJ and luxury cars scattered amongst the field.
I spent the day interviewing some of the attendees for a video on The Style Stakes, a competition where a panel of respected fashion insiders and personalities, select their best dressed Man and Woman. I’ll talk more about The Style Stakes in the style post after this. From sipping cocktails, playing horse shoes (with the ladies doing it in high heels), Smoking cigars and betting on horses, Deighton Cup proved again to be one of the biggest and most fun events of the season. Until next year!
