Jason Matlo celebrated his ten year anniversary show, Matlo 10, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel and enlisted the team of La Biosthetique to create his look for the runway. Just before the show we sent Viranlly backstage to check out the final preparations before the collection stomped down the mirrored runway. We caught up with the team to find out what products they used to create the iconic look for the show.

The make up was very sophisticated, with a focus on the eyes. The team created a defined smoky eye in taupe shades and as a highlight they use glitter just in the center of the eyelid to let the eyes sparkle.

La Biosthetique make up products used:

Silky eyes in taupe over the whole lid

Automatic Pencil for Eyes black

Trio shadow Diamond & Pearls using gold

Sparkle from the Duo Liner in Gold

Perfect Volume waterproof mascara in black

Brows filled in but remains natural and defined with Automatic Pencil for Brows and Magic Shadow Taupe

The team created big, wavy hair on the models that was more flat at the roots

with a side parting. The look was elegant but also dramatic at the same time.

La Biosthetique hair products used:

Volumizing Lotion and Formule Laque Hairspray to set the waves

Volume Powder to create the texture and the Volume

Defining Cream and Formule Laque Hairspray to finish and style the look.

Joshua Langston: When it came to the beauty for the collection, you worked with La Biosthetique. what was the inspiration behind the look and what was the process like creating it?

Jason Matlo: Wen-chee Liu and I knew we wanted glamour, glamour, glamour. I typically go for very strict hair and make up on the runway, opting for a hard chignon or high architectural ponytail and very graphic make up. We have had difficulties in the past with the look being executed to our standards so we have kept it uncomplicated. Having worked with Marc and Anna at La Biosthetique we knew we were in expert company and opted for something soft and textured with the hair, and soft and romantic with the make up. We sent them mood images and then brainstormed about what would meet the concept, and look updated and modern. The result was in perfect rapport with the collection and my mood at the moment.
