When I arrived backstage for the Alon Livné Spring/Summer 2015 presentation, my eyes were immediately drawn to the beautiful model’s muted faces and their sleek, pulled back hair. I thought to myself, “ wow, his collection must be breath-taking” – because usually, the less that’s happening on the face and hair, the more the clothing has to speak for itself. Which could not have been more true for Alon Livné ’s sculptural and luxurious collection.

I approached the key hair artist Woody Michleb of Red Door Spa, and he took a few moments to explain to me where inspiration b Alon Livné’s vision.

For Spring/Summer 2015, it’s all about clean, minimalist look in shades of black, white and grey with metallic hints of silver for an “Ice Queen” look that is anything but boring.

To accompany Alon Livne’s sleek Spring/Summer 2015 collection, Woody Michleb [Red Door Spa’s Creative Director and National Training Director for hair] and Amy Michleb [National Training Director for hair], created a sleek, minimalist bun with a futuristic twist. The hair is parted, slicked back and dyed jet black or a silvery-white with a temporary dye, for a polished look that is anything but classic.

To recreate the look at home:

• Apply a tinted hair gel to either wet or dry hair

• Slick hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck

• Tightly secure hair with a small elastic

• Split the ponytail into two parts and tie hair together tightly

• Wrap the left side around the base in a clockwise direction and the right side in a counter-clockwise direction

“Alon was looking for something very futuristic. He didn’t want anything to take away from the hair. We placed gel and paint to get that wet look with a white finish. But at the last minute he changed his mind and wanted something a little more clear. So we changed it so that the finished look has a gloss appeal, so it’s really the surface that carries a very solid form. But at the same time it’s very simple, and tight to the head so it doesn’t take away from the clothes.”

I also had a chance to speak with the key makeup artist, Benny and he explained to me how they created a gorgeous contoured futuristic look on the face.

“We are going for an ice queen look, sort of muted down, so it’s not too severe. We’ve gone for very matte flawless skin and we muted the brow but not too much, so you can see the hair. The eyelids we have a sweep of a sort of lavender, then we brought a vanilla pigment to pop up in the outer areas. The lips are muted out so it’s all matte and flawless. And then on the cheekbone we added some highlight. So this really finished off the look and is a great compliment to the clothing.”
